Department of Applied Chemistry

Chemistry is a field of natural science which studies essence and change of materials. Our department of applied chemistry is composed of major fields of physical chemistry, organic and polymer chemistry, nano and inorganic chemistry, electric and analytical chemistry dealing with secondary battery, and biochemistry. Each major field aims to accumulate scientific knowledge and develop creativity through theory and experiment.

Department of Energy Convergence Engineering

SSG (Solar Energy+ Secondary cell + Green hydrogen)

The Department of Energy Convergence Engineering is the only major specialized in 'Solar energy, Secondary battery, Hydrogen' in the country, and is supported and operated by the government (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in Korea) and local governments ‘Solar energy, Secondary battery, Hydrogen' energy experts. It starts at Cheongju University on Eum-seong Campus, which was newly created as a result of the higher education and training support project.

With a major in the Department of Energy Convergence Engineering, you can lead the future of the energy industry in the 2050 carbon-neutral era. This department consists of major fields such as renewable energy focused on solar energy, secondary battery as a storage system, and new energy focused on fuel cell and hydrogen energy.

Extensive expertise in new & renewable energy and storage system + bachelor’s curriculum centered on experiments = training of convergence ability.

We aim to nurture future engineers with improved field response capabilities through balanced theory and practical training on materials, device and it’s system manufacturing in the fields of solar cells, secondary batteries, fuel cells, and hydrogen energy.

Department of Data Science

The department of data Science produces the data experts necessary for the development of core technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, such as big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and internet of things (IoT). Our department, established to cope with the rapid increase in demand for data experts, aims to advanced data scientists who can play a key role in the data industry. In particular, we nurture competitive data scientists in the industrial field through basic and advanced training courses that can develop practical data skills based on convergence thinking. In addition, we provide computing courses such as R, Python and SQL to analyze big data to build business models and various deployments of data analysis results.

Department of Artificial Intelligence & Software

The Department of Artificial Intelligence & Software was reorganized from the Department of Computer Information Engineering in 2018. The curriculum also has been reorganized with a focus on software and artificial intelligence, with the goal of fostering professionals with advanced software skill and contributing to the intelligent software industry. Software technology is a key high value-added technology of the future IT industry. The software industry is people-centered, and people are its competitive edge. The faculty of this department is dedicated to training competitive experts in the software industry. We provide the core knowledge of AI and Software areas such as programming languages (C, Python, Java, JSP), AI Algorithm, AI Programming, Operating System, Computer Architecture, Databases, etc. With our qualified education, the professors will incubate students in the AI & Software area. The students will grow into major experts in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Department of Digital Security

Explosive advances in computer systems, networks, smart devices and multimedia devices have resulted in faster, broader, and more convenient information and communication convergence services that produce, collect, and transmit information. However, computer systems and networks are not securely protected which means that various hacking attacks on public and private information are occurring extensively. Thus, the importance of information security services, such as confidentiality, integrity, authentication, and access control which can securely protect computer systems and networks, is increasing. The Department of Digital Security teaches the principles and techniques of information security technologies that can defend and solve cyber-attacks and threats on computer systems, such as various hacking, viruses, and illegal exposure or modification of information and identify theft. Through the program, we train engineers specialized in Digital Security with the ability to securely store and deliver public and private information in the 4th Industrial Society.

Department of Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is a field of study that focuses on the design, construction, and operation of social infrastructure such as roads, bridges, tunnels, railways, airports, harbors, dams, power plants, and various industrial buildings. Civil Engineers have been played very important roles for national land development and industrial competitiveness to respond to rapid changes in the natural and human environment. Civil Engineering related subjects include structural engineering, water engineering, and geotechnical engineering, which are essentially necessary for the design and construction of social infrastructure.

Department of Environmental Engineering

Environmental engineering is a study to improve and maintain the quality of the surrounding living and natural environment in order to protect human safety and health from pollution caused by industrial development and population concentration in cities. Therefore, the Department of Environmental Engineering learns to develop professional capabilities for diagnosis, evaluation, prescription, restoration and prevention, and resource reproduction of environmental pollution through systematic theory, experiment, practice, and integrated education for the environmental engineering major. Sewage and wastewater treatment for the preservation of river water quality and living systems, water treatment for safe tap water supply, basin and water quality modeling technology for water resource protection, waste incineration and energy and resource recovery technology, risk assessment of air pollutants and control technology, soil pollution and underground water management technology, and efficient management of industrial waste. The future industry should develop based on environmental preservation that minimizes the emission of environmental pollutants and treats the emitted pollutants more perfectly. The development prospect of environmental engineering is more promising than any other major and contributes to the welfare and survival of mankind. It can be said that there is a lot to do.

Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning

The Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning is a field that has expertise in space planning and creation for the conservation and utilization of resources, natural environment, and human settlement space representing the national environment and cities. In addition, as awareness of the creation of a sustainable environment, such as serious natural damage caused by development and solving energy and social problems, has expanded, it is in the spotlight as a comprehensive science aimed at creating a natural and human harmony and functional and aesthetic environment based on culture and ecology. The Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning focuses on the comprehensive practical science to make better environments. In order to cultivate experts to plan, design, construction, and manage the national environment, it intensively organizes and operates basic studies such as natural science and engineering, cultivating analysis skills with creative ideas and insights, and practical courses to develop design sense. Through this, more advanced learning and research are actively being conducted as a specialized field that has been expanded across the country and the environment.

Department of Architecture(5-year)

The Dept of Architecture(5-year) emphasizes the development of basic knowledge in the social, environmental, aesthetic, and technical aspects of architecture design, and focuses on producing competitive professionals who have a human touch and are capable of taking responsibility for future society. To meet international standards for architecture education, our school has in particular acquired the highest grade of architecture certification in 2017 from the Korea Architectural Accrediting Board.

Department of Architectural Engineering

This department focuses on creative and practical education to cultivate high competitiveness, future-oriented and creative architectural engineering professionals. This department aims to train professionals who can systematically solve engineering and technical problems related to building performance and production, such as building structure, building materials and construction, construction management, building environment and facilities, and building design.

Department of Electronic Engineering

Since its founding in 1976, the Department of Electronic Engineering has a long-standing tradition and produced many graduates, contributing greatly to the development of the integrated Electronic Engineering Industry, a major industry in Korea. The Department of Electronic Engineering is one of the most popular majors, and to enhance the matriculation rate and the employment rate after graduation, a system has been introduced where each student is assigned a professor and instruction is given at certain levels to cultivate the education of theory major classes and practical competency in one's major.

Department of System Semiconductor Engineering

The semiconductor field is the center of the national economy and the core of next-generation growth engines, and was selected as one of the four strategic industries for new growth engines in Chungcheongbuk-do. In addition, the emergence of cutting-edge new technologies following changes in the semiconductor industry plays a key role in enhancing national technological competitiveness. The Department of System Semiconductor Engineering is leading the development of technology in the advanced semiconductor field through convergence with various advanced technologies such as electric, electronic and telecommunication fields by learning practical application methods based on harmonious education between basic science and applied science. It intensively explores materials, semiconductor equipment, and semiconductor measurement, and operates a wide range of fields by linking with electrical and electronic and material engineering.

Department of Electrical and Control Engineering

The field of Electrical & Control engineering is a technology that is the basis of all industrial fields, from electric products used in our daily lives to power systems that are the basis of national industry. And since the 4th Industrial Revolution, Electrification is a promising field in the future as its importance is increasing across all areas of society.
Therefore, it is necessary to nurture field-oriented, customized electrical engineering talents with creative and future-oriented personalities who can successfully perform duties in the fields of electric machines, power conversion control, and renewable energy.
The Department of Electrical and Control Engineering develops a professional curriculum that combines electricity and instrumentation and control, acquires professional knowledge based on creative thinking and basic engineering knowledge, and conducts comprehensive practical learning through experiments, practices, and design techniques.
In addition, we have established and are operating a feedback plan for continuous connection with graduate recruiting companies.
