Hidden Spaces of Our University
The CheongDae Times regular reporter Hoseok An
As of 2024, our university has 7 colleges, 1 directly affiliated department, and 15,979 students. This means that our campus occupies a relatively large area. With such a spacious campus, there are popular spots known to many students, while there are also places known only to a few. ▲ This is a view of the garden on the 4th floor of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. / Photo = provided by Hoseok An
The photo above shows the garden on the 4th floor. This space is used by students to enjoy the scenery or take a short break. However, most students are not aware of this space. Although efforts are being made to maintain and beautify the garden, it is unfortunate that not many students visit. Additionally, this area is a designated non-smoking zone, so it can be used without concern as a smoking area.
Next is the pond located next to the College of Engineering building at our university. Near this pond, there are benches where students can rest. Students can use this space to relieve stress or enjoy the scenery while looking at the pond. The small pond within our university is a place where students can create fond memories. ▲ This is a photo of the pond next to the College of Engineering. / Photo = provided by Hoseok An The photo shown is of the pond next to the College of Engineering. Surrounding the pond are numerous grasses and trees, and it features a stone pathway. I believe this place is ideal for visiting in the fall when you can see the autumn leaves, as it offers a chance to refresh your mind and create wonderful memories.
Additionally, this place has another charm: it is home to ducks. Not many students are aware of this fact. The photo above shows a duck living in the pond, which is considered another attraction. It is a space where students can relax by the pond and take time to observe these small creatures. However, one downside is that the maintenance of the area could be improved
The next location features exhibits in front of the Military Science building and the College of Arts. These displays include tanks and fighter jets, giving the impression of being in a war museum. These tanks and fighter jets are actual equipment that was used in the past to defend South Korea, and they are now on display at our university. ▲ This is the exhibition area featuring the fighter jet next to the College of Arts. / Photo = provided by Hoseok An The photo above shows the fighter jet exhibits next to the College of Arts at our university. They include the F-4E Phantom, F-5E Tiger, and UH-1 helicopter. Despite the spacious area, there are still students who are unaware of these exhibits.
As we have seen, there are many hidden spaces within our university. The garden on the 4th floor of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the pond and ducks next to the College of Engineering, and the exhibits beside the College of Arts can not only provide students with unique experiences but also create wonderful memories. I hope many people will explore these hidden spaces within our university and make lasting memories. |
