Sports Club Wins National Medals

Our university's taekwondo club received a lot of medals at the 45th National Taekwondo Competition held at Yeonggwang Sportium Stadium in Jeollanam-do.

Bum-koo Jung (a senior majoring in Sports and Health Rehabilitation) who competed in the first group of the university, received a gold medal in the over 87kg weight class. In addition, Do-yeon Kim (a junior in Sports Health Rehabilitation) and Jong-hyun Kim (a sophomore in Sports Health Rehabilitation) who competed in the under 63kg weight class met in the final and drew attention with the competition between seniors and juniors.

As a result, Do-yeon Kim won the gold medal and Jong-hyun Kim won the silver medal. Jin-ho Kim (a junior in Sports Health Rehabilitation) won the bronze medal in the under 58kg weight class and Joon-ho Yeon (a sophomore in Sports Health Rehabilitation) won the bronze medal in the under 80kg weight class.

In addition, the shooting team, which participated in the 2022 Hanwha Chairman's Cup National Shooting Competition held at Changwon International Shooting Range in Gyeongsangnam-do won the air pistol team event.

The team consisted of Ja-hyun Koo (a senior in health administration), Young-sang Kim (a junior in health administration), Seong-hyuk Yoo (a freshman from the Department of Global Economics and Trade), and Min Park (a freshman from the Department of Energy and Optical Technology Convergence).

Our university’s air pistol team shot 1,716 points and won against Korea National Sports University, which shot 1,714 points. In the ensuing standard pistol match, the shooting team won third place and Ja-hyun Koo won third place in the individual match. The Taekwondo club and the Shooting club are training hard to win the 103rd National Sports Festival in Ulsan in October.
