The play "The Altar of History," directed by Lee Seung-won (47), a Ph.D. student at Cheongju University (President Cha Chun-soo), has received the Presidential Award and the Director Award at the 2020 Korean Theater Festival.


In addition, Yoo Mi-kyung (female, 52) and Kim Jung-hyun (35) who are studying for a master's degree at Cheongju University's graduate school appeared as actors in the play and won the Presidential Award.


Lee Seung-won is the president of the Chungnam Theater Association, the president of the budget branch of the Korea Federation of Arts and the head of the theater company Yechon, and he is the president of the student council of the Graduate School of General Studies (doctoral course).


While directing the play "The Altar of History," Lee said, "In this era, shedding light on Yoon-woo's (Yoon Bong-gil) intention was a manifestation of the will to end the shameful past of this era and open a new era."


Yoo Mi-kyung said, "I entered Cheongju University's master's course at a late age, and it became an opportunity for me to grow as an actor and planner," and added, "There is no end to learning. As a study theater actor, I want to be a role model for my juniors," she said.


Yoo is the general manager of the Yedang International Performing Arts Festival, the general director of the 24th National Youth Theater Festival, the budget director of the Korea Theater Association, and the deputy representative of the theater company Yechon, and appeared as a commentator in the play.


Kim Jung-hyun played the role of Wang Ung on the altar of history, and is currently vice chairman of the student Association of Cheongju University Graduate School.


The altar of theatrical history participated in the 38th National Theater Festival as a representative of South Chungcheong Province and won the Presidential Award and the Best Director Award.
