The 100 years of founding Cheongseok Academy at Seokwoo Culture Gymnasium in our university

On the 3rd of May, Cheongseok Academy, a school corporation, celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding at Seokwoo Culture Gymnasium in our university to mark the 100th anniversary of its founding. The event, organized by the Cheongseok Academy's 100th anniversary project, was attended by more than 5,000 people, including Chungcheongbuk-do Governor Kim Young-hwan, Provincial Superintendent Yoon Gun-young, National Assembly Member Byun Jae-il, National Assembly-elect Song Jae-bong, Cheongju District Court President-elect Lim Byung-ryeol, Chungbuk Provincial Police Agency Director Chung Sang-jin, presidents and presidents of each media company, as well as school principals at all levels, Cheongseok Academy faculty members, students, and parents.

Following the entrance of the school flag and the Pledge of Allegiance, the history report of Vice Chairman Park Won-gyu of Cheongseok Academy's 100th Anniversary Commemoration Project was made, In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of founding, a documentary produced by Cheongju University's Department of Film and Cinematography was screened, and a congratulatory poem was recited by Dongyang Ilbo Chairman Cho Chul-ho to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Cheongseok Academy under the title of "We will all be blue-crowded.“

At a ceremony, Oh Young-sik, president of the 100th Anniversary Commemoration Project, said, "The path that Cheongseok Academy has taken for a century has become a big indicator of Korean educational history. As such, the commemorative project was officially launched last year to find the identity of Cheongseok Academy, Korea's representative history, and to establish the Cheongseok Academy Award with the region and the Cheongseok Academy Award that leaps into the world."

Pyo Gap-soo, chairman of Cheongseok Academy, said, "Cheongseok Academy is the only academy with a 100-year history of elementary, middle, and high schools in the south of the Han River. I will contribute to the creation of national culture and the co-prosperity of mankind by mirroring the huge changes and developments of the 100 years," he said.

Kim Yoon-bae, president of our university, said as a representative of descendants, "The two grandfathers established Cheongseok Academy in the spirit of education rescue under the gloomy Japanese colonial rule," adding, "We will work hard to ensure that the talents produced by our Cheongseok Academy can play a greater role in Korea and further the world by inheriting the spirit of education rescue and practical education that your grandfather and father have devoted their entire lives to."

Since then, along with the publication of the 100-year history and the delivery of commemorative stamps, the voice of Dr. Seok-woo Kim Jun-cheol, who died in 2011, has been reproduced in AI, and two people dressed as students have appeared, making the audience moved by a segment called "Ask Dr. Seok-woo's voice, which was heard from the beginning of the academy to the development process and the future direction.

Lee So-yul, a second-grade student at Daesung Girls' Middle School, said, "Congratulations on the 100th anniversary of Cheongseok Academy, and I am so proud as a member of Cheongseok Academy." Jeong Ji-woo, a third-grade student, expressed his pride in the 100th anniversary of Cheongseok Academy, saying, "It is a great honor to spend my third year of middle school with the 100th anniversary of Cheongseok Academy, and I feel good that I made unforgettable memories."

In 1924, the Cheongam and Seokjeong brothers established Daesung General School, the current Daesung Elementary School, at the foot of Uamsan Mountain in Cheongju, which started the 100th year of Cheongseok Academy.

In 1935, Cheongju Commercial School led to Cheongju Commercial High School and Daesung High School. In 1947, Cheongju College of Commerce, the predecessor of Cheongju University, was established, and in 1951, Daesung Middle School was separated from Cheongju Commercial School due to the reorganization of the school system. Then, seven elementary, middle, high school, and university were operated, ranging from Daesung Girls' Middle School in 1959, Daesung Girls' High School in 1961, and Cheongseok High School in 1975.

Among domestic school corporations, there are very few places that have all elementary, middle, high school, and university, and Cheongseok Academy has the longest history south of the Han River.

It was a great honor to be able to participate in the 100th anniversary ceremony of Cheongseok Academy, which has the longest history, with our university students. I would like to express my hope that our university students will always do their best to preserve the deep-rooted history of the domestic school corporation for a long time to make a new history together.
