A New Resting Place in the Central Library, Ediya Coffee Opens

With the start of the new semester, a new space has been created at our university. Ediya Coffee has opened on the second floor of the central library. Ediya Coffee has newly opened in the place where Chai Cafe used to be. “Many students may feel a bit sad because they have many memories at Chai Cafe, but since a new resting place has been created, they can make new campus memories here.
Most students probably already know that Ediya Coffee has opened in the central library because they use it often, but this article was written to clearly introduce the location, atmosphere, types of seats, and menu for those who may not know.Through this article, I hope that even first-time visitors can easily place an order, check if there are menus they like, and see if the cafe has the atmosphere they want. In addition, this article includes more honest stories through interviews with the cafe owner and students who have actually used the cafe.

Ediya Coffee is located on the second floor inside the central library of our university. For students who have used Chai Cafe before, the location will feel even more familiar. For students who use the library, it is a big advantage that they can easily buy drinks or satisfy their hunger inside the library without going outside. Especially for students who want to use their time efficiently, it is more convenient because they can have a meal and coffee in the library and focus on studying right away.
On regular days, the cafe is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, and the last order is at 8 p.m. The weekend hours are not decided yet, so it is necessary to check before visiting. During the exam period, it is open from Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m., and the last order is at 11 p.m. Since many students study until late, the cafe extends its hours during the exam period so they can use it more comfortably.

As soon as you enter the cafe, the clean and bright interior stands out. Thanks to the wood-tone interior, the cafe has a good atmosphere for studying and relaxing, and during the day, the large windows let in sunlight, making it feel brighter and more lively.
Orders are made through a kiosk. After ordering, you receive a number ticket, and you can easily check on the screen above the kiosk whether your drink is ready. When your number appears on the screen, you can pick up your drink at the counter. The staff sometimes call out the number, and there is also a voice announcement with the number on the screen. There is another screen in addition to the one above the kiosk, so it is more convenient to check, and since there are two kiosks in total, students can order relatively quickly even during busy times.

There are also various types of seats. From single seats to group seats, there are many types available, so students can choose the seats that suit them. Trying different types of seats and finding the one that suits you is also one of the charms. Many students use laptops or tablets and stay at school for a long time, and there are power outlets in many places, so they do not have to worry about charging.

The menu is also very diverse. The menu is divided by category on the kiosk, so it is easy to check, and there is also a menu inside the store, so you can choose your order while waiting in line.
Ediya offers a wide variety of menu items, including new menu items, coffee, non-coffee drinks, bread, blended drinks, ade and fruit juice, tea, desserts, decaffeinated coffee, snacks, bottled drinks, home cafe products, Pokémon items, and gift sets.
The coffee menu includes basic drinks such as Americano, cafe latte, vanilla latte, caramel macchiato, and cold brew, as well as unique drinks like signature latte, condensed milk cold brew, nuts cream latte, and white chocolate mocha. “In particular, many popular drinks are also available in decaffeinated options, so students who are sensitive to caffeine at night can enjoy them comfortably.
There are also many non-coffee drinks for students who do not drink coffee. There are drinks like strawberry latte, matcha latte, sweet potato latte, grain powder latte, and dalgona latte, so students can choose according to their taste.
The blended drinks and ade menu also catch your attention. There are a variety of drinks, from sweet options like blueberry yogurt frappuccino, mango frappuccino, and choco cookie shake to refreshing drinks like grapefruit pomelo ade, honey peach ade, and sangria ade. “There are also various fruit juices, such as mango banana juice, strawberry juice, and blueberry juice, so you can choose based on your preference.
The tea menu also includes peach iced tea, yuzu tea, chamomile, earl grey, rooibos, and peppermint, so you can enjoy it depending on the season or your preference. In addition, bottled drinks and home cafe products are also sold, making it easy to enjoy them conveniently.
In addition to drinks, there are also various desserts and bread items that can be enjoyed as snacks or light meals. Not only desserts like slice cake, cookies, mochi rice cakes, and chewy bread, but also meal options such as burritos, hot sandwiches, grilled rice balls, waffles, tteokbokki, and fried rice are available. It feels like more than just a place to drink coffee, as it is a space where you can eat and relax all in one place.
In particular, there are health-conscious options such as low-sugar menus and protein burritos, making them a good choice for students who are on a diet or managing their diet. The menu selection was impressive, as it allows students who study for long hours, such as during exam periods, to enjoy it without pressure.

In addition, home cafe products such as stick coffee are also available so that people can enjoy Ediya at home. This time, drinks and goods from a collaboration with Pokémon could also be seen, and unique menu items such as Pikachu apple berry sherbet, Piplup blue apple ade, and Eevee butterscotch spanner caught people’s attention.

Gift sets are also available, so they can be useful when you need a gift urgently. Various sets are available, including the World Champion Barista gift set, Ediya latte gift set, Ediya coffee mix gift set, and hand drip gift set.
It was impressive that such a wide variety of drinks and desserts were available. After using the library for four years, students may get tired of always eating the same drinks or snacks, but Ediya has such a wide variety of menu items that it does not seem easy to get bored.
Through an interview with the Ediya owner, various information was included, such as the most popular menu items, recommended menu items, discounts available for students, usage rules, and business hours.
The following is an interview with the owner of Ediya Coffee Cheongju University branch.
Q. What are the most popular menu items?
A. The most popular drinks are iced Americano and iced tea. They are light and easy to drink, so many students choose them.

Q. What menu items do the part-time workers recommend?
A. When you need a sugar boost, I recommend strawberry latte or vanilla latte. When you are a bit hungry, simple meal items like hot sandwiches, rice balls, and burritos are also popular.
Q. What menu items sell especially well during exam periods or assignment periods?
A. During exam periods, caffeine drinks sell well. Drinks like Americano or extra-shot drinks that help improve focus are especially popular.
Q. Are there any rules or etiquette you would like students to follow when using the cafe?
A. If you stay for a long time, I would like to ask for consideration not to occupy too many seats at one table. Also, if you could tidy up your seat after use, it would be a big help for the next customers and the staff.
Q. Are there any discounts, rewards, or events that students can use?
A. If you use the membership rewards system, you can get free drink coupons, and there are often events and discount promotions through the app, so it is good to check regularly.
Q. Lastly, do you have any message for the students?
A. I hope it can be a place where students can take a short break during their busy school life. Studying is important, but I would appreciate it if students also take care of their health and use the cafe in a relaxed way.
Through an interview with a Cheongju University student who has actually used the cafe, we heard honest opinions about its advantages and how convenient it is to use.
The following is an interview with Han Myeongji, a student from the Department of Electronic Engineering, class of 21.
Q. Do you use this cafe often?
A. Yes, I use it often.
Q. What do you like most about it?
A. It is close to the lecture halls I attend, and I like that I can do assignments with my classmates in a free and comfortable atmosphere.
Q. Is it convenient to use when studying or doing assignments?
A. I think it is comfortable for studying or doing assignments if the task does not require a lot of discussion with classmates.
Q. What do you usually eat or drink here?
A. I often drink iced Americano.
No matter how good a place is, it cannot become a true place of rest if people do not consider each other. Please clean up your seat for the next person, avoid using too many seats, and help create a better resting place by being considerate of others.
It was meaningful to see that the library, which can sometimes feel boring, can become a place of memories where students chat together, and also a place of passion where they quietly study for their goals. Working hard is important, but I hope you also take care of yourself, eat regularly, and stay healthy. This is because if you are sick, it can affect the things you want to do.

중앙도서관 속 새로운 쉼터, 이디야커피 입점

새학기가 찾아옴과 동시에 우리대학에 새로운 공간이 생겼다. 바로 중앙도서관 2층에 이디야커피가 입점한 것이다. 기존의 ‘차이 카페’가 있던 자리에 새롭게 이디야커피가 들어섰다. 많은 학우들이 ‘차이 카페’에서의 추억도 많을 것이기에 아쉬운 마음도 있지만, 새로운 쉼터가 생긴 만큼 이곳에서 또 다른 캠퍼스의 추억을 만들어나갈 수 있을 것 같다.
대부분의 학생들이 우리 대학교 중앙도서관을 많이 이용하기에 이디야가 들어온 것을 잘 알고 있겠지만, 혹시라도 모르는 학생들을 위해 이디야 카페의 위치, 분위기, 좌석의 종류, 판매 메뉴 등을 생생하게 전달하고자 기사를 작성하게 되었다. 이 기사를 통해 처음 방문하는 학우들도 어렵지 않게 주문을 하고, 자신이 좋아하는 메뉴가 있는지 확인하며, 원하는 분위기의 카페인지 알아볼 수 있는 계기가 되었으면 한다. 또한 이디야커피 입점과 관련하여 사장님 인터뷰와 실제 이용 학생 인터뷰를 통해 더욱 진솔한 내용을 담아보았다.

이디야커피는 우리 대학교 중앙도서관 2층 내부에 위치해 있다. 차이 카페를 이용해본 학우들이라면 더욱 익숙한 위치일 것이다. 도서관을 이용하는 학생들에게는 굳이 외부로 나가지 않고도 도서관 내에서 간편하게 음료를 구매하거나 허기를 달랠 수 있다는 점이 큰 장점이다. 특히 효율적으로 시간을 쓰고자 하는 학생들에게는 밥과 커피를 도서관 안에서 해결하고 바로 공부에 집중할 수 있다는 점에서 더욱 편리한 공간이 된 것 같다.
평상시 영업시간은 평일 오전 9시부터 오후 9시까지이며, 라스트오더는 오후 8시이다. 주말 영업시간은 아직 미정으로, 방문 전 확인이 필요하다. 시험기간에는 월요일부터 일요일까지 동일하게 오전 9시부터 밤 12시까지 운영하며, 라스트오더는 오후 11시이다. 늦은 시간까지 공부하는 학생들이 많은 만큼 시험기간에는 보다 여유롭게 이용할 수 있도록 운영 시간을 연장하고 있다.

카페에 들어서자마자 깨끗하고 밝은 내부가 눈에 띈다. 우드톤 인테리어 덕분에 공부와 휴식에 집중하기 좋은 분위기가 조성되어 있으며, 낮에는 햇빛이 들어오는 통창으로 인해 더욱 밝고 활기찬 느낌을 받을 수 있었다.
주문 방식은 키오스크를 통해 이루어진다. 주문 후에는 번호표가 나오며, 키오스크 위 화면을 통해 자신의 음료가 준비되었는지 편리하게 확인할 수 있다. 자신의 번호표 속 번호가 화면에 뜨면 카운터에서 음료를 받아가면 된다. 직원이 직접 번호를 불러주기도 하고, 화면을 통해 번호와 함께 음성 안내도 나온다. 이러한 화면은 키오스크 위 외에도 한 대가 더 설치되어 있어 더욱 편리하게 확인할 수 있으며, 키오스크 또한 총 2대가 있어 많은 학생들이 몰리는 시간에도 비교적 빠르게 주문할 수 있다.

좌석의 종류 또한 다양하다. 1인석부터 단체석까지 여러 유형의 좌석이 준비되어 있어 많은 학생들이 자신에게 맞는 자리를 선택할 수 있다. 여러 형태의 자리에 앉아보며 자신에게 맞는 자리를 찾아가는 것도 하나의 매력인 것 같다. 특히 노트북이나 태블릿 PC 등을 자주 사용하고 오랜 시간 학교에 머무는 학생들이 많은데, 그런 학생들을 위한 콘센트가 곳곳에 마련되어 있어 충전 걱정을 하지 않아도 된다는 점이 좋았다.

메뉴 또한 매우 다양하다. 키오스크 상으로 메뉴가 종류별로 구분되어 있어 편리하게 확인할 수 있고, 매장 내부에도 메뉴판이 있어 줄을 서 있는 동안에도 메뉴를 고를 수 있다.
이디야에는 신메뉴, 커피, 논커피, 브레드, 블렌디드, 에이드·과일주스, 티, 디저트, 디카페인 커피, 스낵, 병음료, 홈카페, 포켓몬, 선물세트 등 매우 다양한 종류의 메뉴가 준비되어 있다.
커피 메뉴는 아메리카노, 카페라떼, 바닐라라떼, 카라멜마키아또, 콜드브루 등 기본 메뉴부터 시그니처라떼, 연유콜드브루, 넛츠크림라떼, 화이트초콜릿모카와 같은 특색 있는 메뉴까지 다양하게 구성되어 있다. 특히 대부분의 인기 메뉴는 디카페인으로도 제공돼 늦은 시간 카페인을 부담스러워하는 학생들도 편하게 이용할 수 있다.
커피를 마시지 않는 학생들을 위한 논커피 메뉴도 다양하다. 딸기듬뿍라떼, 말차라떼, 고구마라떼, 미숫가루라떼, 달고나라떼 등 취향에 따라 선택할 수 있는 메뉴가 준비돼 있어 폭넓은 이용이 가능하다.
블렌디드와 에이드 메뉴 또한 눈길을 끈다. 블루베리요거트플랫치노, 망고플랫치노, 초코쿠키쉐이크와 같은 달콤한 메뉴부터 자몽포멜로에이드, 꿀복숭아에이드, 샹그리아에이드처럼 상큼한 음료까지 다양하게 마련돼 있다. 과일주스 역시 망고바나나주스, 딸기주스, 블루베리주스 등 여러 종류가 있어 기호에 따라 선택할 수 있다.
티 메뉴 역시 복숭아아이스티, 유자차, 캐모마일, 얼그레이, 루이보스, 페퍼민트 등으로 구성돼 있어 계절이나 취향에 따라 즐길 수 있다. 이외에도 병음료, 홈카페용 제품까지 함께 판매하고 있어 간편하게 즐기기 좋다.
음료 외에도 간식이나 간단한 식사를 해결할 수 있는 디저트와 브레드 종류가 다양하다. 조각케이크, 쿠키, 모찌떡, 쫀득빵 같은 디저트뿐 아니라 브리또, 핫샌드위치, 구운주먹밥, 와플, 떡볶이, 볶음밥 등 식사 대용 메뉴도 준비돼 있다. 단순히 커피를 마시는 공간을 넘어, 식사와 휴식까지 한 번에 해결할 수 있는 공간이라는 점이 큰 장점으로 느껴졌다.
특히 저당 메뉴나 단백질 브리또처럼 건강을 고려한 메뉴도 마련돼 있어 다이어트를 하거나 식단을 신경 쓰는 학생들에게도 좋은 선택지가 될 수 있다. 시험기간처럼 오래 앉아 공부하는 시간이 많은 학생들에게 부담 없이 즐길 수 있는 메뉴 구성이 인상적이었다.

또한 집에서도 이디야를 즐길 수 있도록 스틱커피와 같은 홈카페 상품도 준비되어 있었다. 이번에는 포켓몬과 콜라보한 음료와 굿즈들도 볼 수 있었는데, 피카츄 애플베리셔벗, 팽도리 블루애플에이드, 이브이 버터스카치슈페너 등 색다른 메뉴들도 눈길을 끌었다.

선물세트 또한 준비되어 있어 급하게 선물이 필요한 상황에도 유용하게 활용할 수 있을 것 같다. 월드 챔피언 바리스타 선물세트, 이디야 라떼 선물세트, 이디야 커피믹스 선물세트, 핸드드립 선물세트 등 다양한 구성이 마련되어 있다.
이처럼 다양한 음료와 디저트가 준비되어 있다는 점이 인상 깊었다. 도서관을 4년 내내 이용하다 보면 항상 먹는 음료나 간식이 질릴 수도 있는데, 이디야는 메뉴가 워낙 다양해 질리기 어려울 것 같다는 생각이 들었다.
이디야 사장님과의 인터뷰를 통해 가장 잘 나가는 메뉴와 추천 메뉴, 학생들이 이용할 수 있는 할인 혜택, 이용 규칙과 영업시간 등 다양한 정보를 담아보았다.

A. 가장 잘 나가는 메뉴는 아이스 아메리카노와 아이스티입니다. 가볍게 마시기 좋아 학생들이 많이 찾습니다.

Q. 아르바이트생들이 추천하는 메뉴는 무엇인가요?
A. 당이 떨어질 때는 딸기듬뿍라떼나 바닐라라떼를 추천합니다. 출출할 때는 핫샌드위치, 주먹밥, 브리또 같은 간편식 메뉴도 인기가 많습니다.
Q. 시험기간이나 과제 기간에는 어떤 메뉴가 특히 많이 나가나요?
A. 시험기간에는 카페인이 들어간 음료가 많이 나갑니다. 아메리카노나 샷 추가 음료처럼 집중력을 높여주는 메뉴가 특히 인기 있습니다.
Q. 학생들이 카페를 이용할 때 지켜주었으면 하는 규칙이나 에티켓이 있나요?
A. 장시간 이용하는 경우에는 한 자리에서 너무 많은 좌석을 차지하지 않는 배려를 부탁드리고 싶습니다. 또한 사용한 자리를 간단하게 정리해주시면 다음 손님들과 직원들에게 큰 도움이 됩니다.
Q. 학생들이 이용할 수 있는 할인, 적립, 행사 등이 있나요?
A. 멤버십 적립을 활용하면 무료 음료 쿠폰을 받을 수 있고, 앱을 통해 진행되는 이벤트나 할인 행사도 자주 있으니 확인하면 좋습니다.
Q. 마지막으로 학생들에게 한 말씀 부탁드립니다.
A. 바쁜 학교생활 속에서 잠깐 쉬어갈 수 있는 공간이 되었으면 좋겠습니다. 공부도 중요하지만 건강도 챙기면서 여유 있게 이용해주시면 감사하겠습니다.

A. 자주 이용합니다.
Q. 가장 마음에 드는 점은 무엇인가요?
A. 수업을 듣는 강의동과 가깝고, 자유롭고 편안한 분위기에서 동기들과 과제를 할 수 있다는 점이 가장 마음에 듭니다.
Q. 공부하거나 과제할 때 이용하기 편한가요?
A. 동기들과 의견을 많이 나눠야 하는 과제가 아니라면 공부하거나 과제하기에 편하다고 생각합니다.
Q. 자주 먹는 메뉴는 무엇인가요?
A. 아이스 아메리카노를 자주 먹습니다.
아무리 좋은 공간이라고 하더라도 이용하는 모두가 서로를 위해 배려하지 않는다면 진정한 쉼의 공간이 되지 못할 것이다. 자신이 이용한 자리는 다음 사람을 위해 정리하고, 너무 많은 자리를 과도하게 사용하는 행동은 자제하며 서로를 위한 배려와 함께 하나의 새로운 쉼터를 만들어나가길 바란다.
자칫하면 지루할 수 있는 도서관이라는 공간이 때로는 학우들과 수다를 떠는 추억의 공간이 되고, 때로는 자신의 목표를 위해 묵묵히 공부하는 열정의 공간이 될 수 있다는 점이 뜻깊었다. 열심히 하는 것도 물론 좋지만, 그 속에서 자신을 돌보며 끼니를 거르지 않고 건강도 챙겼으면 한다. 몸이 아프면 자신이 하고 싶은 일에도 지장이 생길 수 있기 때문이다.
친구와 수다를 떨거나, 공부를 하거나, 팀플을 하거나, 너무 조용한 공간보다는 적당히 활기 있는 공간에서 맛있는 음료와 디저트를 즐기며 시간을 보내고 싶다면 중앙도서관 속 이디야커피를 한 번 이용해보는 것은 어떨까. 항상 열심히 근무해주시는 모든 직원분들과 사장님께도 감사의 마음을 전한다.
