2026, Standing at the Start of Change

Spring of 2026 has arrived. The campus, which had been quiet during the winter, is once again filling up with the footsteps of students. It’s a new semester we welcome every year, but this year, there’s a noticeably different atmosphere. Familiar spaces have started to change little by little, and those changes are being felt closer than expected. Naturally, it also brings up the question, “Where is our university heading right now?”
I began my journey at Cheongdae Times as a trainee reporter and have now reached this position. At first, I thought writing and producing articles was all there was to it. But as I continued my work, I came to realize how much thought and perspective are needed to create a single article. I also learned that depending on what you choose to convey and how you deliver it, the reader’s thoughts can change. That’s why this position now feels heavier and more meaningful than before.
During the past winter break, our university went through several noticeable changes. The previously independent division that included the Department of Airline Service, Department of Flight Operation, Department of Aeronautical Mechanical Engineering, Department of Unmanned Aircraft, and Department of Military Studies has been upgraded to the “College of Aviation and National Defense.” This seems to be more than just a name change, it looks like an effort to bring related fields into a unified system and strengthen competitiveness. I believe this is an important change that shows the direction our university is heading.
The old building of the College of Arts is currently undergoing remodeling. It is a process of transforming an outdated space into something new. Once completed, students will be able to attend classes in a better environment. The kiosks in the Central Library have also been completely replaced. It may seem like a small change, but it directly improves everyday convenience. Another notable change is the Division of Liberal Studies, which was newly established last year. It broadens the range of major choices and gives students the opportunity to explore their own paths.
Like this, the university is attempting changes in many areas. Facilities are being improved, and systems are being reorganized. These changes are not something that can be completed in a short time; they are built up gradually over time. What matters is how these changes actually affect students’ experiences. Cheongdae Times will continue to take a close look at that point. We will not stop at simply reporting “what has changed.” We will also include how those changes are being received.
In 2026, Cheongdae Times aims to look at the university from a closer perspective. Rather than focusing on grand stories, we will pay attention to what students actually experience. We will cover not only campus news but also students’ daily lives and concerns. We aim to present content that is easy to read, yet still gives something worth thinking about.
We also plan to explore a variety of topics. Moving beyond familiar formats, we are considering new styles of articles as well. Our goal is to become a newspaper that students can naturally take interest in. To achieve this, our reporters will actively cover and record stories from their own perspectives.
Let me introduce the articles featured in this 242nd issue.

● Introduction to the Department of English Literature at Our University In this issue, we focused on covering various news and major issues of our university. We highlighted the excellent performance of our university’s shooting team at the Daegu Mayor’s National Shooting Competition and aimed to provide practical information through a guide on using campus safety equipment. We also vividly captured the scenes of the 2026 Chonghae Oreum Festival and the spring club recruitment event. In addition, we introduced the newly opened Ediya Coffee in the Central Library as a space for students to relax, and provided an overall introduction to the Department of English Language and Literature to help readers better understand the department.
In this issue, we tried to include a variety of stories along with the changes at our university. We covered both big and small movements on campus. We hope that each article serves as a small clue to help understand the university as it is now.
A new semester has begun. In this changing environment, everyone is probably adapting in their own place. We hope that the articles from Cheongdae Times can be of some help in that process. We ask for your continued interest in the changes ahead. Thank you.
2026년, 변화의 시작 앞에서

2026년의 봄이 찾아왔습니다. 겨울 동안 잠잠했던 캠퍼스는 다시 학생들의 발걸음으로 채워지고 있습니다. 매년 맞이하는 새 학기지만, 올해는 유독 달라진 분위기가 느껴집니다. 익숙했던 공간이 조금씩 바뀌었고, 그 변화는 생각보다 가까운 곳에서 체감되고 있습니다. 자연스럽게 ‘지금 우리 학교는 어디로 가고 있는가’에 대한 고민도 함께 떠오르게 됩니다.
저는 청대타임즈에서 수습기자로 활동을 시작해 지금 이 자리까지 오게 되었습니다. 처음에는 단순히 글을 쓰고 기사를 만드는 것이 전부라고 생각했습니다. 하지만 활동을 이어가면서, 하나의 기사가 만들어지기까지 얼마나 많은 고민과 시선이 필요한지 알게 되었습니다. 무엇을 전할 것인지, 어떻게 전달할 것인지에 따라 읽는 사람의 생각이 달라질 수 있다는 점도 느꼈습니다. 그래서 지금 이 자리는 이전과는 다른 무게로 다가옵니다.
지난 동계 방학 동안 우리 대학에는 눈에 띄는 변화가 이어졌습니다. 기존에 항공서비스학과, 항공운항학과, 항공기계공학과, 무인항공기학과, 군사학과가 속해 있던 직할학부는 ‘항공국방대학’으로 승격되었습니다. 단순한 명칭 변경을 넘어 관련 분야를 하나의 체계로 묶고 경쟁력을 강화하려는 움직임으로 보입니다. 이는 우리 대학이 어떤 방향으로 나아가고 있는지를 보여주는 중요한 변화라고 생각합니다.
예술대학 구관은 현재 리모델링이 진행되고 있습니다. 낡았던 공간이 새롭게 바뀌는 과정입니다. 완공 이후에는 학생들이 더 나은 환경에서 수업을 듣게 될 것입니다. 중앙도서관의 키오스크도 전면 교체되었습니다. 사소해 보일 수 있지만, 이런 변화는 일상적인 이용 편의에 직접적인 영향을 줍니다. 작년에 신설된 자유전공학부 역시 주목할 만한 변화입니다. 전공 선택의 폭을 넓히고, 학생들이 자신의 방향을 탐색할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고 있습니다.
이처럼 학교는 여러 방면에서 변화를 시도하고 있습니다. 시설을 개선하고 제도를 정비하는 과정이 이어지고 있습니다. 이러한 변화는 단기간에 완성되는 것이 아니라, 시간을 두고 축적되는 과정이라고 생각합니다. 중요한 것은 그 변화가 실제로 학생들의 경험에 어떤 영향을 주는지입니다. 청대타임즈는 그 지점을 계속해서 살펴보려고 합니다. 단순히 ‘무엇이 바뀌었다’는 사실을 전달하는 데서 그치지 않겠습니다. 그 변화가 어떻게 받아들여지고 있는지까지 함께 담아내겠습니다.
2026년의 청대타임즈는 조금 더 가까운 시선으로 학교를 바라보려 합니다. 거창한 이야기보다, 실제로 학생들이 체감하는 부분에 집중하겠습니다. 학내 소식뿐 아니라 학생들의 일상과 고민도 함께 다루겠습니다. 읽는 데 부담이 없으면서도, 한 번쯤 생각해볼 수 있는 내용을 담고자 합니다.
또한 다양한 주제를 시도해 보려 합니다. 익숙한 형식에서 벗어나 새로운 방식의 기사도 고민하고 있습니다. 학우 여러분이 자연스럽게 관심을 가질 수 있는 신문이 되는 것이 목표입니다. 이를 위해 기자들 역시 각자의 시선으로 적극적으로 취재하고 기록할 것입니다.

이번 호에서는 우리 대학의 변화와 함께 다양한 이야기들을 담아보았습니다. 학내의 크고 작은 움직임을 취재했습니다. 각각의 기사가 현재의 학교를 이해하는 데 작은 단서가 되기를 바랍니다.
