The "CJU Learning Club" extracurricular program, one of the key driving forces behind our university's educational innovation, continues to operate actively in the 2025 second semester. This program plays a crucial role in enhancing students' self-directed learning capabilities, going beyond mere academic support. 

The CJU Learning Club is designed to facilitate projects in which students, as the primary agents of their learning, come together in teams to identify and focus on topics for independent exploration. Moving away from a passive adherence to the curriculum, the club fosters the development of active learners who plan, implement, and produce outcomes driven by their intellectual curiosity. Additionally, it has established itself as a key extracurricular program that fosters knowledge sharing and collaboration among students, promoting a culture of learning communities that thrive together across the campus.

A total of 50 teams will be selected for the 2025 second semester. Applicants must consist of three to ten students from our school, and each team must include one faculty advisor. To ensure fairness in the selection process and expertise in program management, the submitted learning plans will undergo rigorous evaluation by the Education Innovation Steering Committee before final selection. The "CJU Learning Club" will take place over approximately five months, starting from the application deadline on September 17 and culminating in the final award ceremony scheduled for January to February 2026. The main procedure begins with the application and selection process, followed by an orientation essential for the activities and a meeting for the mid-term evaluation. After the study club activity period, outstanding clubs will be selected and announced, concluding with an awards ceremony. Notably, participants who attend the orientation and meetings aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of their activities will receive additional points in the final evaluation. 

 

I spoke with a student from one of the learning clubs at CJU and heard their story. Below is an interview with the team leader, Yoo Dam-hee, a student from the Department of Library and Information Science, class of 2024.

Q. What motivated you to apply for the study club?  

A. I didn't have many opportunities to study with my friends, and I wanted to engage in activities that I hadn't pursued on my own through the study club. Most importantly, I was attracted to the idea of collaborating as a team to gain experience and the possibility of earning prize money for our hard work.

 

Q. What was the most challenging aspect of participating in the learning club?  

A. I initially approached it with a light heart, but as I became more involved, I encountered numerous difficulties. In particular, I found it challenging to coordinate schedules with team members and to align our differing opinions.

 

Q. Have there been any changes during the study club?  

A. It was my first time taking on the role of a team leader, and I deeply felt the importance of responsibility. I learned how significant it is to have someone who can provide direction in a group project, and I believe I have grown a lot through this experience. Additionally, by listening to the diverse opinions of my team members, I was able to broaden my perspective and become more adaptable.

 

Q. Is there anything you would like to share with your juniors about the effectiveness of the study club?  

A. I really enjoyed getting closer to my friends through the study club, and it was truly meaningful to achieve results on a project that I wouldn't have attempted on my own.  What I would like to convey to my juniors is that if you have a topic or project you are interested in, it would be great to pursue it with your friends in a study club! I believe the experiences gained during this process have contributed significantly to my personal growth!

 

Through the interview with Yoo Dam-hee, we gained a comprehensive insight into the benefits of the CJU learning club, as well as the internal growth process that students experience through their actual activities. The experience of collaborating on projects that are typically challenging to undertake alone, alongside team members, and working together to achieve meaningful results, offers greater value than mere academic success. In particular, the challenges of scheduling and integrating diverse opinions, as expressed by team leader Yoo Dam-hee, reflect the realistic obstacles faced in all team projects. However, the process of overcoming these challenges serves as a vital source of growth for essential skills such as responsibility and leadership. Additionally, it fosters a social impact by strengthening bonds among friends, encouraging active listening, and broadening perspectives.

 

As several teams continue their activities based on unique learning topics in the 2025 second semester, attention is also being drawn to the process of selecting outstanding clubs to be held at the end of the semester. While the evaluation of each team's efforts and results remains uncertain, what truly matters is that the learning journey created by the students culminates in even more remarkable outcomes. We hope that the CJU Learning Club will continue to enrich our university's learning culture and serve as a stepping stone for more students to discover opportunities for growth on their own.

팀으로 배우는 시대, CJU 학습동아리가 보여준 변화

우리 대학의 교육 혁신을 이끄는 핵심동력 중 하나인 ‘CJU 학습동아리’ 비교과 프로그램이 2025-2학기에도 변함없이 활발하게 운영되고 있다. 이 프로그램은 단순히 학업 보조 기능을 넘어, 학생들의 자기 주도 학습역량을 강화하는데 결정적이고 중요한 역할을 수행하고 있다. CJU 학습동아리는 학생들이 학습의 주체로서 팀 단위로 모여 스스로 탐구할 주제를 설정하고 집중할 수 있는 프로젝트를 수행하도록 설계되었다. 교육과정을 수동적으로 따라가는 방식에서 벗어나, 학생들의 지적인 호기심을 바탕으로 스스로 계획하고 실천하며 결과물을 만들어내는 능동적인 학습자로 성장할 수 있도록 돕는다. 또한, 학우들 간의 지식공유와 협력을 촉진하며 함께 배우고 성장하는 학습공동체 문화를 캠퍼스 전반에 확산시키는 주요 비교과 프로그램으로 자리매김하고 있다.

이번 2025-2학기에는 총 50팀을 선발한다. 신청대상은 우리 학교 재학생 3인 이상 10인

이하로 구성된 팀에 지도교수 1인이 반드시 포함되어야 한다. 선발 과정의 공정성과 프로그램 운영의 전문성을 확보하기 위해, 제출된 학습계획서는 교육혁신원 운영위원회의 엄격한 심사를 거쳐 최종 선발이 된다. ‘CJU 학습동아리’는 신청 마감일인 9월 17일부터 시작하여 이듬해인 2026년 1~2월의 최종시상에 이르기까지 약 5개월에 걸친 대장정으로 진행된다. 주요 진행 절차는 신청/선발을 시작으로, 활동에 필수적인 오리엔테이션과 중간점검을 위한 간담회,

그리고 학습동아리 활동 기간을 거쳐 우수동아리 선정/발표, 마지막으로 시상으로 마무리된다. 특히 활동의 실효성을 다지기 위해 오리엔테이션과 간담회에 참여할 경우 최종평가에 가산점이 부여된다.

현재 CJU 학습동아리에서 활동하는 학습동아리 중 한 팀의 학생을 만나 이야기를 들어보았다. 다음은 팀의 조장인 문헌정보학과 24학번 유담희 학생의 인터뷰 내용이다.

Q. 학습동아리에 지원하게 된 계기가 무엇인가요?

A. 평소에 친구들과 함께 공부해볼 기회가 많지 않았고, 혼자서는 잘 시도하지 않던 활동들을 학습동아리를 통해 같이 해보고 싶었습니다. 무엇보다 팀으로 협력하여 경험을 쌓고, 열심히 활동하면 상금도 받을 수 있다는 점이 매력적으로 느껴져서 학습동아리를 지원하게 되었습니다.

 

Q. 학습동아리 활동하면서 가장 어려웠던 점은 무엇인가요?

A. 처음은 가벼운 마음으로 시작했지만, 막상 활동하다 보니 어려운 점도 많았습니다. 특히 팀원들과의 일정 조율이나, 서로의 의견을 맞춰가는 과정에 대한 어려움이 컸던 것 같습니다.

 

Q. 학습동아리를 하며 생긴 변화도 있을까요?

A. 처음으로 조장 역할을 맡아보면서 책임감의 중요성을 깊이 느낀 시간이었습니다. 단체로 진행하는 프로젝트에서 중심을 잡아주는 사람이 있다는 것이 얼마나 큰 역할인지 알게 되었고, 그 과정에서 저도 많이 성장한 것 같습니다. 또 팀원들의 다양한 의견을 들으면서 제 관점도 넓어지고 유연해지는 경험을 할 수 있었습니다.

 

Q. 학습동아리의 효과나 후배들에게 전하고 싶은 말 있을까요?

A. 학습동아리를 하면서 친구들과 더 가까워질 수 있었던 것이 좋았고, 혼자였다면 시도하지 못했을 프로젝트를 함꺠 진행하면서 뜻깊은 결과물을 만들었다는 점이 정말 의미있었습니다.

후배들에게 전하고 싶은 말은, 해보고 싶었던 주제나, 프로젝트가 있다면 학습동아리를 통해 친구들과 함께 해보면 좋을 것 같아요! 그 과정에서 얻는 경험이 저를 더욱 성장시켜준 것 같아요!!

 

유담희 학생의 인터뷰를 통해 우리는 CJU 학습동아리가 지닌 이점과 더불어, 학생들이 실제 활동을 통해 얻는 내면적 성장 과정을 입체적으로 엿볼 수 있었다. 평소 혼자서는 시도하기 어려웠던 프로젝트를 팀원들과 함께 추진하고, 협력하여 뜻깊은 결과물을 만들었다는 경험은 학업 성취 이상의 가치를 제공한다. 특히 유담희 조장이 토로한 일정 조율과 의견통합의 어려움은 모든 팀 프로젝트가 겪는 현실적인 난관이지만, 바로 이러한 어려움을 극복하는 과정이 책임감, 리더십 등 필수적인 능력을 끌어올리는 자양분이 되었을 것이다. 친구들과 유대감을 극대화하고 상호의견을 경청하며 관점을 넓히는 사회적 효과까지 이어진다.

 

이번 2025-2학기에도 여러 팀이 개성있는 학습주제를 바탕으로 의미있는 활동을 이어가고 있는 만큼, 학기 말 진행될 우수동아리 선정 과정에도 관심이 쏠리고 있다. 각 팀이 그동안 쌓아온 노력과 결과물이 어떠한 평가를 받을지 모르겠지만, 중요한 것은 학생들이 직접 만들어온 학습의 여정이 더욱 빛나는 결실로 이어지길 바란다. 앞으로도 CJU 학습동아리가 우리 대학교 학습문화를 풍요롭게 이끌며, 더 많은 학생들이 스스로 성장의 기회를 발견하는 발판이 되기를 기대해 본다.
