The CheongDae Times Editor-in-chief Jin-won Seo

In 2024, a new Cheongdae Times has begun. I think the new bieginning has pleasant tremors and tension. I stated as a trainee at the Cheongdae Times and became the Editor-in-chief of the CheongDae Times in the third year of my career. I feel a heavy responsibility to take on this important position.

When I became Editor in 2024, the first thing I worried about was the 'direction' of the Cheongdae Times. Until now, The Cheongdae Times published the translation of the article 'Now Cheongju University' and major social news in Korea and abroad. I thought about whether this would be the practice of the role of the university press and it can help our students’ English study.

I thought that it would be more effective to write articles with more accessible materials to promote the learning of English for students. In addition, as a university press it has to cover and deliver various news from our university to students. Therefore, the Cheongdae Times needs to change.

From now on, the Cheongdae Times will change like this. First, we will increase the number of articles covered. Second, we will cover more diverse fields of university news. Third, we will be more friendly to students. Also, we will promote it more actively to increase students’ interest.

We covered a military band performance involving Corporal Lee Do-hyun, actor Lee Do-hyun, the GTEP Fair, our university's representative program, and the Air Force ROTC briefing session established this year. At the beginning of the semester, interviews were conducted on the representative events of the college, Haeoreum Festival, and the Cherry Blossom Festival, which cannot be missed in spring. And I wrote an article about a student who went abroad for language study during the last winter vacation.

I will work as a director for a positive change in the Cheongdae Times this year. I look forward to working with the Cheongdae Times reporters during your term, and I hope that your classmates will pay a lot of attention to the new Cheongdae Times.
