First Place in the Third Division of the National Drone Soccer Tournament

‘D-Sports’ club belonging to the Department of Unmanned Aircraft Systems won First place in the national drone soccer tournament. On October fifth, the national drone soccer competition was held at the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center. It is divided into the first, second, and third divisions, and our university won first place in the third division, where 190 teams participated.

If you are not a Department of Unmanned Aircraft Systems student, drone soccer will feel unfamiliar. It is a futuristic sport in which a team that scores more points on a goal suspended in a circle in the air using a perfectly protected drone ball win. Each team consists of five drones. Only one of the five drones can score through the opponent's goal as a striker.

The game time per set is 3 minutes and a total of 3 sets. For three minutes, drones make a thundering noise and fly at high speed, so both players and spectators have to focus on the game.

The drone soccer competition is a comprehensive sport that includes drone design and production technology. D-sports students selected and manufactured drone parts for the competition and participated in the competition after conducting flight tests.

A total of nine D-Sports students participated in the event, including Jeon Je-hyung (2), Jung Sang-joon (2), Yang Hee-seok (2), Choi Woo-hyuk (3), Shin Jin-young (1), Ko Sung-min (1), Lee Jung-yeop (1), Kim Tae-hyun (1), and Won Joon-sung (1). They received 500,000 won for first place in the competition.

Department of Unmanned Aircraft Systems is developing the ‘D-Sports’ into a public school club from next year. In addition, there are club Tri3, designing and manufacturing drone, and drone video content production club U&I in the Department of Unmanned Aircraft Systems. I hope to become a department of Unmanned Aircraft Systems at our university that produces better results through various club activities.
